We’re excited to launch the first, small-scale, FLAME reference phone program, “Foxtrot” for Mozillians.

We have about 200 devices available for members of our community (volunteers and employees) who are not part of the core OS dev teams, who will use the phones regularly, and who will participate in product surveys, focused testing efforts, and be available to help us gauge the quality of specific features and the overall product.

To apply to the program, head over to our Foxtrot Application:

The application takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

200 phones means that not everyone can participate in this program but not to worry, there will be other opportunities for receiving free Flames.

  1. Can’t wait to see if I get selected and help Mozilla again with Testing!

  2. What does “contributor” mean? Do I have to have patches in the tree? Is plenty of bugs in BMO enough?

        1. Well, I have in the end ordered Flame on my own. Use the free phone for somebody who needs it.

        2. Not a requirement but an opportunity. A bugzilla account or other ID that lets us look at your Mozilla contributions would be suitable.

  3. Waiting to see if i get an opportunity to help and contribute to the development of the phone!!

  4. Hope I get selected! Would love to help out Mozilla and also show off in my college! :P

  5. Hi! This is my 1st comment here so I just wanted to give a quick shout
out and say I truly enjoy reading your blog posts. Can you suggest any other
blogs/websites/forums that cover the same topics? Thanks for your time!

  6. Hello,

I don’t know if this is the best place to ask this but since I’ve found you in a lot of places talking about the Mozilla Flame, I will try to ask here.

My question is simple, is there any place other than everbuying when I can buy the Mozilla Flame Reference Phone ? I want to buy it in order to start developing for it, but I can’t accept the fact that on the Mozilla website there is the information that the phone costs 145$ and the shipping costs 25$, that shipping is made by DHL and I won’t accept DHL because here in Portugal they ask for 50€ + the Importing Taxes just to get the phone, I want to buy it by simple shipping like that website proposes but when asked about that, I only have 2 answers :

    1 – No Answer
2 – No possibility to buy without the DHL shipping.

So how can I solve this problem ? Is there any other place where I can buy it ?

    Best Regards,
    Luis Da Costa

  7. Hello Mr. Dotzler,

Is there a way I could contact you directly? I have questions about how Mozilla works with for the Flame phone. I have been trying to get mine replaced after part of the touch screen quit working. So far, the process has been extremely complicated and I’m still not sure if I actually will receive a replacement device.

    Thank you, sir.
